Kutu kemaluan kebanyakan ditemukan pada remaja. Penularan biasa terjadi melalui kontak fisik dengan obyek yang terkontaminasi seperti toilet, kursi, seprei, selimut, dan lain-lain. Bahkan, wanita juga dapat tertular hanya gara-gara mencoba-coba pakaian di ruang ganti pakaian.
Dibandingkan dengan kutu lainnya, usia kutu kemaluan betina sedikit lebih pendek (3 minggu) dan menghasilkan telur lebih sedikit (3 telur per hari). Telur menempel pada pangkal batang rambut kemaluan selama sekitar 6 sampai 8 hari sebelum menetas.
Beberapa penyebab dan metode penularan kutu kemaluan antara lain:
- Kontak intim dengan orang yang terinfeksi. Karena penularan terjadi selama hubungan intim, hubungan seksual yang sebenarnya tidak diperlukan untuk penyebaran kutu kemaluan.
- Kontak dengan barang-barang yang sudah terkontaminasi seperti sudah disebutkan di atas.
- Kutu tidak melompat atau terbang, maka kontak sebenarnya (secara fisik) diperlukan untuk proses transmisi. Seorang individu mungkin memperoleh infeksi karena tidur bersama atau menggunakan barang secara bergantian (misal: handuk, selimut, atau pakaian).
- Kucing, anjing, dan hewan peliharaan lainnya tidak terlibat dalam penyebaran kutu manusia.
Beberapa tindakan perawatan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi dan mencegah infeksi kutu kemaluan antara lain:
- Mengeramasi rambut kemaluan dan wilayah sekitarnya dengan sampo atau sabun mandi sedikitnya selama a5 menit.
- Membilas bagian kemaluan dengan air hingga bersih.
- Menyisir rambut kemaluan dengan sisir bergigi halus untuk menghilangkan telur.
- Menggunting rambut kemaluan untuk mengurangi jumlah kutu dan telur.

Pubic lice or
crab lice is often referred to as (crabs) are parasites of insects are
found primarily in the pubic area or genitals of men. The term crab is
given because the microscopic appearance that resembles a crab. The
shape is rather round with three pairs of legs on both sides of the body
(see figure below). The name of the organism of pubic lice is
pediculosis pubis.Pubic lice are found mostly in adolescents.
Transmission usually occurs through physical contact with contaminated
objects such as toilets, chairs, linens, blankets, and others. In fact,
women also can be infected just because dabbled clothes in the dressing
room.Compared with other lice, pubic lice age females slightly shorter
(3 weeks) and produce fewer eggs (3 eggs per day). Eggs attached to the
base of the pubic hair shaft for about 6 to 8 days before hatching.Some
of the causes and methods of transmission of pubic lice include:Intimate
contact with an infected person. Because transmission occurs during
sexual intercourse, actual intercourse is not necessary for the spread
of pubic lice.
Contact with items that have been contaminated as already mentioned
above.
Lice do not jump or fly, then the contact is actually (physically) is
required for the transmission process. An individual may acquire the
infection from sleeping together or alternately use items (eg towels,
blankets, or clothing).
Cats, dogs and other pets are not involved in the spread of human lice.
As for the symptoms of pubic lice infection are itching and burning in
the pubic area. Itching can be spread because pubic lice can move to
other wet areas of the body such as armpits. At night this itching would
worsen. Be careful not to get too intense in scratching the itch (or
avoid altogether) as it can lead to broken skin and infected by
bacteria. Other symptoms are fever and stinging while urinating or
genital discharge.Some maintenance actions that can be done to overcome
and prevent infections of pubic lice include:Mengeramasi pubic hair and
surrounding area with shampoo or soap for at least a5 minutes.
Rinsing the genital area with water until clean.
Combing pubic hair with a fine toothed comb to remove eggs.
Cutting the pubic hair to reduce the number of lice and eggs.So, while
